Number bonds to 10!
We are furthering our number knowledge by learning some number bonds to 10, we have used ten again! to learn some ways of making ten. We have been practically exploring using double sided counters and a ten frame, matching up numicon and paper plates with numerals to show all the ways to make 10!
Learning and spotting 3D Shapes.
To deepen our knowledge on shapes we have begun to explore 3D shapes, throughout the topic we looked at cubes, cubiods, spheres, cones and cylinders! We spent time handling these shapes and looking for familiar 2D faces and also looking around our environment for where we can see these shapes. We spotted a cylinder in our construction area, saw different coloured multilink cubes, noted that our balls in PE and outside were spheres and even thought of ice cream cones. Super shape spotting reception.
Learn 2D Shapes with Numberblocks!
During the spring term we have been learning all about shapes. We started off by consolidating our understanding of circles, triangles, rectangles and squares, we learnt about the properties of sides and corners and then went on to count these on learnt shapes. We then moved onto learning about pentagons and hexagons! We have had lots of fun spotting shapes in our environment and using shapes to create pictures!
Learning our number bonds to 5!
To start off our spring term we will be looking at number bonds to 5! We will use our existing knowledge of part part whole to support us when looking at bonds.
Numberblocks The Stampolines!
In reception we have been creating and describing our own stampolines! We have used multilink cubes to create stampolines for 3, 4 and 5. We have learnt new positional language to describe how we have built our blocks and created our stampolines.
Count to 20 Sing-a-Long!
We are developing our counting skills to 20! We have been dancing and singing along to this song to strengthen our verbal skills.
Five Little Peas - Part Part Whole.
This week we are learning about part part whole, the children will be using this rhyme to talk about the 5 peas in the pod. Each pea is a part of the pod and all 5 peas together make the whole.
We will also be practising this using our hands, the hand is the whole but each finger makes up a part of the hand.
Counting to 10!
This week we are looking at counting to 10, the children have been enjoying this video counting to 10 using different voices and actions! We are also practising showing number on our fingers when counting up to 5.
Numberblocks- Count to 5
We have been working hard to learn how to count five objects and find sets of two and three around the room. We hope you enjoy counting at home too!
Subitise Up To 5 | Math Song for Kids | Jack Hartmann
