In Reception we have started our Phonics journey on Little Wandle. Throughout Autumn 1 we will be learning our Phase 2 sounds.

Over the week, the class learn four different graphemes (letter or letter groups that correspond to a single sound). We use pictures for the children to think about how the phonemes (sounds) can be identified in words and rhymes to help them with the formation of each letter.

Phase 2 sounds taught in Reception Autumn 2

We have chosen to teach the Phase 2 sounds for a longer period to ensure that all children fully embed them to allow them to extend their knowledge. These are the sounds that we have been teaching in Autumn 2 and Spring 1.
