Welcome to Year 3!

Our class teacher is Miss K Preston and our TA is Mrs J Hilton - our topic this half term is called Coastal Water. Which is a geography focused topic which explores all about the coast. We are learning about different types of beaches. The children enjoyed creating their very own beach scene out of sand and other materials. The children will be learning about geographical changes to coasts such as erosion and looking at and interpreting relief maps. The children have had great fun so far looking into the different coastal cities around the UK and using their map skills to discover this. Our Art this half-term focuses realist artist Edward Hopper, who created beautiful coastal and lighthouse landscapes. We will be creating our own sculptures of lighthouses! 

In Maths we will be moving on to turns and angles, children have just spent a while looking at time, which was very tricky! We are now looking at different types of angles, comparing angles and describing turns. 

Our book in English is the Mousehole Cat, which we have had great fun looking at our characters Tom and Mowzer, who embarked on a brave adventure in the coastal village of Mousehole, Cornwall. 

In Science, we are learning all about food chains and the different predator and prey relationships within the animal kingdom. The children have had fun looking at the chain of producer to predator. 

Important Information

P.E. days  -   Thursday and Friday.  Please remember to come to school wearing appropriate P.E. kit on  these days. white shirts, black shorts and school jumper.

Spelling test  -  on Friday mornings.  Please practise each night up to the day of the test.

Homework  -  sent home on Fridays. 

Reading  -  We read in class everyday,  so please remember to bring your reading book into school everyday.

Try to read at home every day too.
