Writing in Reception

Each day in Reception, we complete our phonics and handwriting sessions where the children can practise applying their phonics skills and letter formation.

Within the provision, the children have lots of opportunities to practise their writing and mark making skills independently through the use of different resources.

We encourage the children to strengthen their fine motor skills in preparation for writing by ensuring there are fine motor stations available and completing a finger warm up before handwriting sessions.
