Summer Gallery of Good Times

What a washout! Since the cricket was rained off, we decided to do a range of watery activities. We have drawn a bluegill sunfish, created a clay flatfish and sung sea-shanties. We enjoyed using our new shading skills on the fish. This afternoon, we have worked on Scratch, animating our names and avatars.

Coastal erosion

Whilst we have been learning about coastal erosion, Panamas used a bit of drama to see how the angry sea eroded the hard rock and soft rock, to form headlands and bays. It was a good day to use our House colours! Can you spot which house acted as the hard rocks, and what happened to the softer rock?

We have had a lovely time with the carnival this week. We enjoyed making and decorating our head-dresses and practising all the songs. It was hit and miss on carnival day, but luckily the weather held and we had a lovely time in the Square.

Did we congratulate our latest TT Rock Stars Champion? Well done!

We have written and posted letters to our favourite authors and it's always a very exciting day if your favourite not only replies, but also sends you an advance copy of their next novel! Thank you @JM Forster.

Tongue Twisters

Can you say the tongue twister?

She sells sea shells

On the sea shore

So the shells she sells

Are sea shells, I’m sure.

Today, we launched our new topic, Where the Land Meets the Sea. One of the activities we did was to make a seaside in the box. This term, we will learn about more geographical features to add to them.

More STEAM week pictures. Designing floating boats, and looking at how water disperses the colour on Skittles sweets. We used this to make patterns, before following a live lesson on whales.

This week, we have had a STEAM focus week, with a water theme. Miss Patterson has planned some really interesting lessons and so we have been able to make our own watercycles, learn about whales and observe how water disperses colours. Yesterday, we designed floating boats, then investigated which design carried the most fruit.,

This afternoon, Panamas have celebrated the coronation of King Charles III by learning the National Anthem (that's the photo where we are all concentrating!) and making coronation collages and a class crown. We're all looking forward to the festivities over the weekend.

Trip - We went to the Black Country Museum to support us with our topic learning, Revolution. We went on a mine tour, watched a chain making demonstration and enjoyed visiting the many shops and houses. We had a great day!

Times table star of the month - she has been putting in so much effort learning her times tables and improving her soundcheck scores. Well done!

Year Four had a great time launching our Revolution topic about the Victorians. We found the strict classrooms intimidating (but fun) and really had to concentrate on our handwriting so we didn't make any mistakes. In the afternoon, we were lucky enough to see a steam train pass, before we became historians and found out about the Victorians by looking at a range of resources. We've had a great day! 'It was really funny when Mrs Bloomer was a strict teacher.' Thomas 'It was difficult to write with my right hand when I'm really left-handed.' Abigail 'The steam train was so loud! It went past really quickly.' Sofia
