Nursery

It is a great privilege to welcome children and their families on the first step in their education journey at Outwoods Nursery. In the Early Years we take a holistic approach to learning and development which is underpinned by the document ‘Development Matters’.

Your children’s experiences at Outwoods will be happy, exciting and full of playful discovery. All children are encouraged to be confident learners and to form friendships with other children. Highly qualified and experienced practitioners guide them in developing independence allowing them to make choices and expand on their interest in the world around them. We provide stimulating environments which support children in developing curiosity and a real desire to learn. Children delight at meeting challenges and taking risks whilst benefitting from a safe, caring and secure environment.

Outdoor play is an essential part of the learning experience children have here at Outwoods and we are committed to providing high quality outdoor learning all year round. Nursery children have constant access to the outdoor area and are encouraged to make their own decisions about where to play.  The activities and learning experiences are carefully planned to support the child’s individual interests and learning styles. This personalised approach helps the children to take ownership and become immersed in their learning.

At Outwoods Nursery, we value working alongside parents and recognise the positive impact these successful relationships have on your child’s learning and social and emotional development.  You are the experts of your child; their first and enduring educators.  To encourage you to be actively involved in your children’s learning we use ‘Tapestry’- a secure online learning journal which records photographs, observations and comments, in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum. This system allows us to work with parents and carers to share information and record the children’s learning both at Nursery and at home.
