Our Governors

Belinda Bollans

Welcome to the governor's section of the Outwoods Primary School website. My name is Belinda and I have been a governor at Outwoods for just over 4 years. I have lived in Atherstone for most of my life and as a child I attended the two previous schools (Arden Hill and Oakfield) that merged to form Outwoods Primary. Love for learning, learning for life embodies everything that our school aims to achieve; putting children first and striving to give them the best primary education experiences possible in an exciting, stimulating, and safe environment. On my frequent visits to school, I see children who are happy, confident learners, who feel valued and respected and staff who plan and deliver an exciting and varied curriculum so that all children can achieve well.

My background in primary education has given me the great privilege of being involved in the school lives of countless numbers of children and seeing them grow and flourish, overcoming barriers and challenges continues to inspire me.

My role as a governor is to support and challenge the school so that each child's educational journey here at Outwoods gives them the best chance to succeed.

Since my retirement I have enjoyed reading many more books, but my greatest pleasure is now to read and share books with my four grandchildren. It is very difficult for me to choose a favourite book but the one that we have all loved reading is, Each Peach Pear Plum by Janet and Allan Ahlberg and is one of the current choices of my delightful 1 year old granddaughter. You can never have too many books!

John Cressey

Hi, my name is John Cressey and I am one of the governors that help to ensure the school delivers the best possible learning experiences for our children.  I’ve been a member of the governing board since 2018.

Having moved to the area in 2013 I have seen all 3 of my children progress through the school with our last child leaving for secondary school in 2022.

I thoroughly enjoy my role as a governor, the most enjoyable aspect is the school visits, watching the children enjoying their learning & listening to them share their work is great fun !

As a family we have 2 cocker spaniels, Mollie and Peggie, along with a Tortoise called Oogwai.  I’m an avid reader, as a child my favourite author was Enid Blyton, I now enjoy autobiographies and thrillers.
